This song was developed from an idea recorded into one mic with an acoustic guitar and nonsensical drawl like most of my songs. Then forgotten about.

Writing songs became an addiction for me a long time ago. I can't claim to be great at it but I have always done it. If I pick up a guitar, sooner or later I have a song. They usually start with a melody I can't get out of my head. I have to record it before I forget it forever. I have forgotten countless melodies. I consider myself lucky in that I can always find another one. Sometimes I have the whole song, sometimes just the chorus or verse.

With Imitate I had the verse to begin. I could hum the chorus before finding the chords and the song was born. I went through a few versions before what became the final version. No songs are really final. I added parts, took them away... I am happy with the version you are listening to.

I sent my friend Chris several songs. I only had two days booked at his Saltwell Studio so we agreed to record Imitate and another song called Do You Think (to be released).

We had a great time recording Imitate.
